Marine Mammal Harvest Local Research Assistant: Bristol Bay Harvest Data Collection Project. 5 positions. 1. Iliamna-Newhalen, 2 Kokhanok, 3, Pedro Bay. 4. Igiugig, and 5.Levelock, Jobs are Temporary – Part Time. Dates: March 1, 2020 to May 30, 2020 OBJECTIVE: Local Research Assistant will work part-time of 20 hours per week in community to document subsistence takes of harbor seals, Steller sea lions, beluga whales, and ice seals (bearded, spotted, ringed, ribbon) in Bristol Bay marine mammal hunting communities. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years of age. Local Research Assistants should be long-term residents of their communities. They should be able to communicate wellwith all households in their community and have good paperwork skills. The ideal assistant is a person who participates in subsistence activities either harvesting or processing marine mammals. Must be available to participate in training. Local Research Assistants will receive in-classroom training on Bristol Bay Harvest Data Collection protocols conducted by BBNA Marine Mammal Program Manager and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Subsistence Division staff in Dillingham between February and March 2019.
