Project: Chignik Lagoon Landfill-Sewage Lagoon Road

Project Description: The tribe is in the final stages of the permitting process to construct a safe and continual access road to the landfill and sewage lagoon. Design is complete. The landfill and sewage lagoon is approximately 1mile out of town and is only assessable during low tide and only under ideal conditions. Additionally, this road would serve as the first steppingstone to a larger goal of connecting villages, a more centralized runway as well as access to a potential deepwater port.

Cost Estimate: $9 million

Timeline: 2 year once funding is secured

Funding Partners: BIA Transportation, EPA, EDA, USDA, State of Alaska

Evaluation Measures:

-55 community members impacted.

-3 people employed for construction.

-Increase in safe access to landfill and sewage lagoon.
