Workforce Development Hosts Basic Technology Training in Togiak

On November 28th, Workforce Development’s Database Services Division hosted a basic technology training class in Togiak, led by Alec Arellano. The training was held in the Togiak WFD office, with seven community members participating. Topics covered during the training included:

  • Staff Introductions and WFD Service Info
  • Gauging Familiarity with Technology
  • Introduction to Different Device Platforms (PCs, laptops, tablets, etc.)
  • Intro to OS operation (Windows, Apple iOS, Android, etc.), File
    Management
  • How to Create and Manage Personal Email – folders, rules, organization
  • Overview of Google Applications – Docs, Drive, Sheets
  • Cybersecurity — password management, separation of identities,
    phishing/spam safety
  • Basic Device Maintenance – physical cleaning, updates
  • Tools for Self-Sufficiency – budgeting, resume building tools, online
    job/educational opportunities

In a post-training survey, participants reported that they enjoyed the training and left with a greater understanding of how to use technology for personal and business purposes.

Workforce Development will continue to host these trainings in Togiak and other communities within our service area as we work to improve awareness of our service offerings, connect clients with employment & educational resources, and eliminate technology barriers.
